The volatile oil is obtained by a distillation system from the dried rhizome of Zingiber officianale (Fam. Zingiberaceae). It is soluble in oil mixtures and in mineral oil, it is usually soluble with turbidity in alcohol, but it is insoluble in glycerin and in propylene glycol.
